UK privacy regulator welcomes cybersecurity reform bill, but flags risks

( December 23, 2025, 12:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: UK data watchdog the Information Commissioner’s Office welcomed the government’s proposed Cyber Security and Resilience Bill but warned that unresolved details risk undermining its impact. In a statement Tuesday, the ICO said follow-up legislation must clarify incident-reporting thresholds, security obligations, the approach to critical suppliers and the application of new enforcement powers, as its remit widens to managed service providers. The regulator also cautioned that uncertainty would limit its ability to give clear guidance to industry. It said additional funding will be key for it to have a more proactive oversight role.Statement follows....
