Cyberattacks cost UK £14.7bn per year, research published with bill shows

The findings, drawn from five independent studies, reveal sector-wide vulnerabilities and growing economic risks. KPMG's report said the average significant cyberattack costs a UK business almost £195,000, while Alma Economics estimated that cyberattacks attempting intellectual property and knowledge-asset thefts drained between £1 billion and £8.5 billion in 2024.
