Child cyberbullying complaints in Australia rise 26% in 2024–2025 financial year

( November 6, 2025, 06:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The online safety watchdog received 3,406 cyberbullying complaints targeting Australian children in the 2024-2025 financial year, up from 2,693 complaints in 2023-2024. In its annual report, the eSafety Commissioner said that between July 2024 and June 2025, cyberbullying remained one of the most damaging online harms facing young Australians with a 26 percent increase in the number of complaints. The regulator said that it engaged with digital platforms on more than 848 complaints of cyberbullying. The report also said that public awareness about the regulator rose to 38 percent according to a survey, particularly after the passage of the Social Media Minimum Age legislation.The annual report is attached:...
