CCIA sues to block Texas app store law

( October 16, 2025, 17:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Computer & Communications Industry Association filed a US complaint challenging Texas’ new mobile app store law. CCIA alleges that the law imposes a sweeping age-verification, parental consent, and compelled speech regime on both app stores and app developers in violation of the First Amendment. “In addition to the constitutional problems, this app store bill places burdens on app stores, developers, minors, and parents that are completely disproportionate to any harm policymakers were attempting to remedy,” CCIA Senior Vice President Stephanie Joyce said.Statement follows in full.
