China's cyber police penalize Dior's Shanghai unit over data breaches

The center said violations that were uncovered included transferring user data to Dior’s headquarters in France without a security review, standard contract or personal-information protection certification. The company also failed to fully inform users how their information would be handled by foreign data recipients or obtain users’ “separate consent” and neglected to apply safeguards such as encryption or de-identification to the personal information it collected.
