UK care-home data requester obtains records after criminal case

By Patricia Figueiredo ( September 5, 2025, 11:35 GMT | Insight) -- The individual whose Subject Access Request was blocked by a UK care home has now received the requested data, following the care-home director's conviction under Section 173 of the Data Protection Act 2018, the Information Commissioner's Office has confirmed. At a court hearing, the director Jason Blake argued that he wasn’t responsible for the request, that his institution wasn’t a data controller, and that it had deregistered from the ICO. The court dismissed those claims and fined Blake, after deciding he had concealed records to prevent disclosure.
