UK ICO warns companies after care home director’s data-request-breach conviction

( September 4, 2025, 10:57 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A UK care home director was convicted for ignoring a Subject Access Request, the Information Commissioner’s Office said in a statement today. Jason Blake, of Bridlington Lodge Care Home in northeastern England, was found guilty of blocking records sought on behalf of a resident by a family member. Blake was ordered to pay a fine of 1,100 pounds (around $1,500) fine plus 5,440 pounds in costs, at a court hearing yesterday. Andy Curry, the ICO’s head of investigations, warned businesses that attempts to avoid scrutiny breach data protection law and carry criminal liability, and urged companies to handle SARs lawfully.Statement follows....
