Google, Shein fined total of EUR475 million in French cookie-rule violations

( September 3, 2025, 20:37 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The French Data Protection Authority has fined Google 325 million euros ($379 million) for violating rules on managing cookies and personalized advertising in e-mail service Gmail. Singapore-based online retailer Shein was fined 150 million euros ($175 million) for violating French rules on setting cookies without users' consent. The penalties by the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés are part of the regulator's efforts to regulate non-compliant practices in the tracking and targeting of internet users, the authority said in a statement.Full press release below in French....
