T-Mobile fails to get US FCC fines over sale of location data overturned

( August 15, 2025, 14:47 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: T-Mobile and Sprint failed to convince a US appeals court to overturn $200 million in fines imposed by the Federal Communications Commission against them over their past sale of consumers’ location data. The US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit found that the FCC correctly determined customer location information falls under the Communications Act, imparting a a duty on the carriers to protect such information from misuse by third parties, and they violated that duty by failing to take reasonable measures to prevent bad actors from abusing access.See attached file. ...
