Meta denied request to amend answers in US privacy lawsuit over voice data

( August 1, 2025, 22:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Meta today lost a bid to amend answers to privacy allegations that it obtained Facebook users’ voice data without consent, violating Illinois’s Biometric Information Privacy Act. The judge found Meta failed to show “good cause” in seeking the amendments so it can argue that certain exemptions concerning financial institutions and government contractors under the law apply. “Defendant does not explain why it failed to include the new defenses in its answer or why it seeks to add them so long after the deadline has passed,” the order said.
