France’s SNCF can't require collection of gender identity data, French court rules

( July 31, 2025, 15:17 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: French train operator SNCF isn't allowed to make the collection of users' gender identity a requirement when they buy train tickets, France's highest administrative court ruled today. SNCF's argument that it needs the data for personalized advertising was unfounded, the court said. The case stems from a complaint by a French LGBTQI+ advocacy group and was ruled on by the EU’s Court of Justice earlier this year.Statement follows, the decision is attached (both in French). ...
