Four porn-site operators in UK face age-check probes under Online Safety Act

( July 31, 2025, 09:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Four companies operating pornographic websites are under investigation in the UK for potentially failing to meet age-verification duties under the Online Safety Act, regulator Ofcom said today. The probes will examine whether the platforms — which collectively run 34 such websites — have implemented “highly effective age assurance” to prevent children from accessing pornographic content. The investigations are part of an expansion of Ofcom’s enforcement program, which now covers platforms hosting user-generated porn as well as those publishing their own content.Statement follows....
