New Zealand moves to strengthen digital-identity privacy safeguards

( July 22, 2025, 03:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: New digital-identity rules announced today by the New Zealand government are designed to deliver “safer, more secure and more connected services in the digital world.” In a statement, the Department of Internal Affairs said the new rules for digital verification would take in a wider range of documents, allow digital credentials to be presented online and protect users’ privacy by stopping an issuer from tracking a person’s digital ID.
