US FTC seeks comment on petition to vacate order related to SpyFone provider

( July 18, 2025, 16:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Federal Trade Commission is seeking public comment on a request from SpyFone.com Chief Executive Scott Zuckerman to modify or vacate an order banning them from providing monitoring products and services and requiring implementation of an information-security program. The FTC alleged that SpyFone and Zuckerman sold apps that allowed purchasers to secretly monitor devices without device-owner knowledge. In his petition, Zuckerman said the financial costs of complying with the order prevented him from expanding his other businesses, which remain subject to the order’s requirements.Statement follows in full.
