Online platforms face new EU child-safety guidance; member states test age-verification app

The guidelines — issued under the EU’s Digital Services Act — are accompanied by the rollout of an age-verification app prototype, now entering a pilot phase with member states. Platforms are urged to integrate or test the new tool and ensure that age checks are accurate and non-intrusive.Online providers will be required to implement age-assurance measures that are proportionate to the risks their services pose to minors, under new guidelines published today by the European Commission under the EU’s Digital Services Act....
