Online child safety guidelines; privacy-first age-verification app unveiled by EU

( July 14, 2025, 14:11 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission today released new guidelines to protect minors online and unveiled a prototype age-verification app that sets a "gold standard" in digital privacy. The measures, introduced under the EU's Digital Services Act, aim to curb exposure to harmful content, addictive platform features and unsolicited contact from strangers. The new tool will allow users to verify their age when accessing adult content without disclosing personal details, and will be piloted in Denmark, France, Greece, Italy and Spain.The press release and the guidelines are attached.
