Platforms to provide researchers with better access to data under UK proposal

( July 9, 2025, 08:07 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Online platforms will need to allow greater researcher access to data for online safety purposes under proposals published by UK regulator Ofcom. The watchdog suggested three models: one where services host data and researchers apply via a third party; another where an intermediary vets requests for public and private data; and a full repository model where the intermediary hosts and governs access. Ofcom said no single model meets all needs, so a layered, flexible approach is the best option for the UK government to develop.Statement follows. Report attached....
