UK data watchdog appoints Paul Arnold as first CEO

( July 1, 2025, 17:17 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK data protection authority has named Paul Arnold as its future chief executive when it restructures as the Information Commission, following changes to its structure in the recently passed Data (Use and Access) Act. When it moves from the corporation sole structure, where currently all powers are held by John Edwards, the information commissioner, the Information Commission will have a board. Edwards will be the chair, alongside Arnold as CEO and seven non-executive directors still being recruited. Arnold’s position is temporary, for a maximum two-year period.
