Age assurance possible, but isn't one-size-fits-all fix, test in Australia shows

( June 20, 2025, 09:47 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Age assurance “can be done” in a private, robust and effective way, according to preliminary findings from an independent evaluation of technical options ahead of implementing a social media ban for under-16s in Australia. However, the findings also note that there is no one-size-fits-all solution for verifying the age of underage users who shouldn't access social media, nor any approach “guaranteed to be effective in all deployments.” The evaluation is being led by the Age Check Certification Scheme, a UK-based certification organization, which plans to present the final report by the end of July.Statement attached....
