PIPC launches dispute-mediation process against SK Telecom over data breach

( June 20, 2025, 01:55 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Commission has initiated mediation procedures for the first user-group requests filed against SK Telecom over recent data breaches. The PIPC’s dispute-mediation committee has launched proceedings for two initial cases involving groups of 96 and 51 users and plans to proceed with two additional cases involving 3,266 and 97 users once documentation is finalized. More SK telecom users may join the process because the committee plans to recruit additional participants. However, the mediation process will be temporarily suspended until the PIPC concludes an ongoing investigation and issues a sanction decision. The statement, in Korean, is attached....
