Google defeats class certification in US privacy suit over Chrome data collection

( June 10, 2025, 14:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google has defeated the certification of classwide claims in a third key privacy suit against its Chrome browser, this one alleging that the company illegally collected data from users who had not synced their browsers to their Google accounts. US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers ruled, as she found in litigation over Chrome's "Incognito" mode and a suit over Google's use of real-time bidding, that "inquiries relating to Google’s implied consent defense will overwhelm the damages claims for all causes of action," denying with prejudice the plaintiffs' motion for class certification.See attached file....
