Federal employee union wins injunction against OPM sharing personal information

( June 9, 2025, 21:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The decision by the Office of Personnel Management to make the personal data of federal workers available to the Department of Government Efficiency violated the Privacy Act, a federal judge in New York has ruled in granting a preliminary injunction sought by the American Federation of Government Employees, the AFL-CIO and other plaintiffs. "OPM granted broad access to many of those systems to a group of individuals associated with the Department of Government Efficiency (“DOGE”), even though no credible need for this access had been demonstrated. In doing so, OPM violated the law and bypassed its established cybersecurity practices," US District Judge Denise Cote wrote in today's order.See attached order....
