Maserati, DBS bank apps among 50 flagged in Shanghai for data violations

( June 6, 2025, 07:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China's Shanghai Communications Administration has announced that routine inspections identified 50 apps and software development kits that violated user rights, including an app operated by luxury auto brand Maserati, 16 games hosted on the video-sharing platform Bilibili and an app by DBS Bank. The reported violations include failure to explicitly disclose data-processing policies, uncompliant or excessive collection of personal information and self-starting or initiating other applications without user consent. Regulators have ordered the operators to address the identified issues immediately, conduct a comprehensive self-assessment of personal data and user protection practices and submit a report within 30 days.
