Marriott, Accenture get recertification of class claims in US data breach case reversed

( June 3, 2025, 14:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit reversed recertification of class action claims against Marriott and Accenture of a 2018 data breach. A three-judge panel found that Marriott has not given up its class-waiver defense, that the plaintiffs’ waiver of class litigation is valid and enforceable, and that the waiver applies to the plaintiffs’ claims. Additionally, because the issue classes against Accenture have been justified only in combination with the Marriott damages classes, the court reversed the recertification of the Accenture classes.See attached file. ...
