Social media companies, plaintiffs submit school district bellwether trial picks

( May 23, 2025, 21:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Plaintiffs and defendants Meta Platforms, TikTok, YouTube and Snap have submitted to a federal judge in California a list of school districts that they argue should be designated for bellwether trials on allegations that the companies harmed students and schools by designing their social media platforms to be addictive. Plaintiffs suggested a trial pool of eight systems: DeKalb, Georgia; Baltimore, Maryland; Jordan, Utah; Charleston, South Carolina; Tucson, Arizona; St. Charles, Louisiana; Irvington, New Jersey; and Breathitt, Kentucky. The defendants want to strike Jordan and Tucson from that list. See attached files....
