Meta files reply for dismissing Facebook users' amended US claims over scammers

( May 21, 2025, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Meta Platforms filed a reply in support of dismissing US claims filed by Facebook users accusing the social network of helping scammers defraud users with deceptive advertising, breaching its legal and contractual duties to users and violating unfair competition laws. Meta said that even if its terms of service and community standards did impose an obligation to detect and remove third-party content that allegedly violates Facebook’s policies, plaintiffs do not allege Meta breached it. “Instead, in their amended complaint and opposition, plaintiffs suggest only that Meta should have been suspicious of all advertisers from China because, in their telling, many Chinese advertisers post fraudulent content.”See attached file. ...
