Mississippi opposes injunction against social media law

( May 19, 2025, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Mississippi Attorney General told a US federal judge that, far from trying to carry its “heavy burden” to address every hypothetical application of each provision it challenges, NetChoice urges the court to deem a Mississippi law curbing minors’ access to social media “unconstitutional in all conceivable applications” based on “the face of the law”— without factual development. The AG opposed a motion for a temporary restraining order against the law. The brief argues that NetChoice has not shown the law is unlawful in even one application because it has failed to establish what any covered platform must do under any challenged provision, nor has it explained what would constitute “commercially reasonable” actions to verify age, obtain parental consent or adopt a harm-mitigation strategy.See attached file....
