New Zealand app will verify driver's licenses from US, Australian states

( May 16, 2025, 02:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Drivers visiting New Zealand from the Australian state of Queensland and 13 US states will be able to have their driver's licenses digitally authenticated by a new government app designed to verify digital credentials. In a statement, New Zealand Digitizing Government Minister Judith Collins and Tourism and Hospitality Minister Louise Upston said the app would allow people from California, New York, Ohio, Georgia, Virginia, Arizona, Maryland, Colorado, Utah, Iowa, New Mexico, Hawai’i and Alaska, as well as the US territory of Puerto Rico, to use their driver's licenses as a form of identification in New Zealand, rather than having to rely on their passports. The initiative would also allow driver's licenses to be used as a form of age verification.  The full statement from the New Zealand government follows: ...
