Parents, kids to have first say on children’s privacy code, Australian regulator says

( May 16, 2025, 01:18 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Australia's privacy regulator is inviting feedback from children, young people and parents in phase one of consultations to develop a children's privacy code. In a statement today, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner said that the regulator has published a worksheet each for children between ages eight and 12 and for children and young people between ages 12 and 18. The regulator has also published a discussion paper for parents. Australian Privacy Commissioner Carly Kind said that the regulator wants to “first hear directly from those most affected by the code – children and young people – so it accurately reflects what they need and want.” This consultation closes on June 30. The full statement by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner follows; the worksheets for children and the discussion paper for parents is attached:...
