Italian DPA launches public consultation on 'pay or ok' model

( May 6, 2025, 07:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Italian data protection authority has opened a public consultation to assess the legality of the so-called “pay or ok” model introduced by several organizations, notably online newspapers, as a legal basis for processing personal data. The initiative follows several probes against media organizations that have challenged the legality of such an approach, as the regulator considers that users must be able to give informed and free consent.
