Adobe can't dodge US FTC's claims it trapped customers in subscriptions, judge rules

By Maria Dinzeo ( May 3, 2025, 00:14 GMT | Insight) -- A US federal judge ruled that Adobe and two of its executives must face the US Federal Trade Commission’s lawsuit accusing them of duping customers into enrolling in its priciest annual subscription plan and then saddling them with onerous "stealth" cancellation fees and hurdles. The agency alleges the software maker turned its hefty early termination fee into a "retention tool" to trap customers in subscriptions they didn’t want. Adobe cannot escape claims that it trapped customers in onerous subscriptions for Photoshop and other software products in violation of the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act, a US federal judge ruled today....
