Japan's LY makes progress separating its systems from Naver after data breach, PPC says

( May 1, 2025, 02:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Japanese operator of the LINE messaging app is making progress in separating its systems from those of its former parent company in South Korea, according to Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission. The PPC noted that LY Corp. has largely implemented measures to prevent further inappropriate data access from Naver Cloud and Naver Group, including isolating LY’s authentication systems from those of Naver Group. The regulator will continue to monitor the situation and has directed the company to keep its users informed until all measures are fully implemented by March next year.
