Thailand PDPC orders Foodpanda to submit data protection plan before May 23 exit

( April 25, 2025, 08:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Committee told Foodpanda, the German-owned delivery platform, to submit its data destruction and protection plan ahead of its exit from the Thai market on May 23, 2025. Foodpanda is legally required to prevent the leakage of personal data belonging to customers, restaurant partners and delivery riders and PDPC Secretary-General Suraphong Plengkham said the company had been asked to explain its compliance with articles 37 and 40 of the Personal Data Protection Act, particularly regarding procedures for retaining, deleting or destroying personal data that is no longer required, as well as measures to prevent data leakages.
