Don’t compete with private sector digital ID, associations urge UK government

( April 22, 2025, 09:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The digital identity scheme created by the UK government should not compete with the private sector, a group of associations urged today in a letter to tech minister Peter Kyle. The group advocates for the GOV.UK Wallet, developed for the One Login program, to be limited to authentication for public services. The group also asked for private digital IDs compliant with the government’s trust framework to be accepted by public bodies, and for government-issued credentials, such as digital driving licenses, to be held in any certified wallet.Statement follows.
