UK software firm Advanced fined for privacy breach after hacker attack

( March 27, 2025, 00:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: UK software provider Advanced, now trading as OneAdvanced, has been fined just over 3 million pounds ($3.9 million) for security failings that exposed the personal information of almost 80,000 people following a ransomware attack in 2022. The Information Commissioner’s Office today announced a settlement whereby Advanced agreed to pay a reduced fine without an appeal. The reduced fine is around half of what was expected last year, when the ICO’s provisional findings pointed to a potential fine of just under 6.1 million pounds.Statement follows....
