Japan's PPC to initiate stakeholder dialogues, continue reviewing data-protection law

( March 26, 2025, 09:06 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The commissioners of Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission, or PPC, today agreed to start roundtable discussions with stakeholders — including legal experts, business groups and consumer groups — to discuss data-protection policies. The first meeting is scheduled for April and will occur twice a year. The commissioners also approved the PPC's activity plan for the fiscal year 2025, which begins in April. The regulator will continue reviewing the personal information protection law and exploring potential legal amendments during or after the current parliamentary session, which concludes in June.
