ChatGPT falsely accused Norwegian user of murder, data privacy group Noyb says

( March 20, 2025, 06:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- OpenAI’s ChatGPT has come under fire for generating false and defamatory claims about individuals, according to a complaint by the data privacy NGO, Noyb. The chatbot falsely claimed a Norwegian user of being a convicted murderer, Noyb's statement reads. The Austrian privacy group has filed a complaint with Norway’s data protection authority, arguing that OpenAI’s failure to ensure data accuracy violates EU data protection rules. This is Noyb's second complaint against the the company, following its first one in April last year. Although Norway is not an EU member state, the EU's General Data Protection Regulation was incorporated into the European Economic Area, of which Norway is a part, so its rules also apply to the country. The statement follows:...
