Polish hospital gets GDPR fine over video surveillance

( February 3, 2025, 12:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Polish hospital Centrum Medyczne Ujastek has been fined by the national data protection authority for illegally processing data through video surveillance cameras installed in two neonatal rooms. The cameras recorded intimate moments of newborns and their mothers, according to the regulator. The hospital failed to inform patients or staff about the surveillance. Additionally, the hospital reported the loss or theft of unencrypted memory cards containing sensitive data. The total fine amounted to approximately 271,000 euros.Statement follows in Polish.
