App stores face new age-verification requirement in Singapore

( January 16, 2025, 03:20 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Starting March 31, major app-distribution services such as Apple's App Store and Google Play Store will have to comply with a new Singapore code requiring them to verify the age or age range of users and restrict children from accessing apps that are inappropriate for their age based on their own ratings. The new code, the latest in Singapore’s online safety measures, will also apply to Huawei App Gallery, Microsoft Store and Samsung Galaxy Store.
