Foodinho faces EUR5 million Italian GDPR fine

( November 22, 2024, 15:55 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Italian food delivery company Foodinho, which is part of the Spain-based delivery Glovo group, has been fined 5 million euros by the national data protection authority for violating the EU's General Data Protection Regulation. The company illegally processed data from over 35,000 riders, the watchdog said. The violations included unlawful geolocation data tracking even outside working hours, use of biometric data and automated decision-making systems without riders' ability to contest decisions, the regulator said.
