South Korea pledges to enable two-way data transfers with EU

The discussion took place during a meeting between Personal Information Protection Commission Chairman Ko Hak-soo and European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders at the 46th Global Privacy Assembly on Oct. 31, where they agreed to expedite South Korea's review of granting the EU a status comparable to the data protection adequacy decision it has already received from the EU in 2021. The move follows recent amendments to South Korea's Personal Information Protection Act, which introduced more flexible methods for overseas data transfers....
