UK privacy chief backs latest data reform plans, proposes minor technical changes

( October 31, 2024, 17:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK's chief privacy regulator has backed the new government's plan for data privacy reforms that would update the country's EU-inherited rulebook, saying they represent "pragmatic and proportionate" changes to the current rulebook that should not cause a future problem for UK-EU data flows. In a blog post, John Edwards, whose Information Commissioner's Office would see a structural revamp, has also suggested some technical amendments to the proposal, where "drafting changes could provide further clarity; or [we] do not think drafting reflects the policy intent." The legislative plan is a substantially revised version of a proposal by the previous government....
