Financial services - Regulation - EU Banking competitiveness report and proposals

The European Commission’s report on bank competitiveness, set for July 15, 2026, is expected to assess cross-border banking barriers as well as the suitability of current prudential, supervisory, and crisis-management rules. The EU’s executive body will offer recommendations, and corresponding legislative proposals will follow in early 2027.
