Data Privacy & Security - Artificial Intelligence - Character Technologies - Kentucky AG's lawsuit over chatbot safety (US)

The Kentucky attorney general has sued Character Technologies, Inc., the company behind the AI chatbot platform Character.AI, alleging it created a "defective and unreasonably dangerous product that exploits the
developmental vulnerabilities of children and other susceptible users," and it did not disclose that it was using childrens' data to train its AI model. The state brings the case under Kentucky consumer protection and product-liability law, seeking to hold the company and its founders accountable for alleged harms to children, including cited teen suicides linked to chatbot interactions.
