Financial services - Regulation - Market integration package proposal (EU)

The European Commission published a package proposal to better integrate and oversee EU capital markets, on Dec. 4, 2025. This jumbo proposal, reviewing almost 20 EU legal texts, includes a transfer of supervisory powers to the EU market watchdog for certain market infrastructures — significant clearing houses, trade repositories, trading venues, central securities depositories, and cryptoasset service providers — along with bolstered supervisory convergence tools and measures to remove barriers to cross-border services and settlement.
