Antitrust – Eni - Q8 - Ip - Collusion – Biofuel (Italy)

Italian competition authority investigation into oil companies Eni, Esso, Ip, Iplom, Q8, Saras and Tamoil. Except Iplom, they have been fined a total of €936 million for colluding on prices over three and a half years. Italian investigators said they had uncovered evidence of coordination on the value of the bio component added to gasoline via direct exchanges as well as signals in an energy trade media outlet. The watchdog noted that the cost of the bio component, which was mandated by law, tripled between 2019 and 2023. Eni received the largest fine, which amounted to €336 million.
