Cloud sovereignty - Cloud and AI development Act (CAIDA)

The European Union has long sought to reduce its critical technological dependencies as part of its push for digital sovereignty. The cloud sector stands out as a clear example, given the central role of data infrastructure in all digital services and the dominance of a few foreign providers. Cloud sovereignty has thus become the EU’s testing ground for strengthening strategic autonomy and will be anchored in the upcoming Cloud and AI Development Act, a legislative proposal to expand the bloc’s computing capacity.
