Data Privacy & Security - X (Twitter) - eSafety Commissioner - Reporting notice about online safety standards (Australia)

In February 2023, Australia's eSafety Commissioner issued Twitter (now X Corp) a reporting notice about the company's compliance with "basic online safety expectations" for the period from Jan. 24, 2022, to Jan. 31, 2023. Twitter's alleged failure to comply with that order under the 2021 Online Safety Act prompted the eSafety Commissioner to issue an infringement notice on X Corp in October 2023, which was challenged by X in the Federal Court of Australia the following month (casefile: VID956/2023). X later appealed that decision to a full bench of the Federal Court (casefile: VID1186/2024).
