Technology - Digital Fairness Act - Rules on digital commerce and consumer protection (EU)

The European Commission is set to propose the Digital Fairness Act in 2026, building on insights from the 2024 Digital Fitness Check. The DFA aims to tackle a range of online consumer issues, including dark patterns, addictive design, influencer marketing and unfair commercial practices. The scope of the DFA may expand to cover dynamic pricing, pending the outcome of extensive evidence-gathering efforts underway in 2025. The DFA is also expected to address the growing problem of illegal products sold by Chinese retailers in Europe.
