Trade - reciprocal tariffs

President Donald Trump on April 2, 2025, announced reciprocal tariffs against US trading partners. A baseline of 10 percent will target all imports from every country starting April 5, 2025.

On April 9, 2025, specific countries will face tariffs of half the rates they charge based on a Trump administration calculation of monetary and non-monetary trade barriers they impose on US goods.

Some industries are exempt, such as cars and car parts, steel and aluminum, critical minerals and copper, lumber, pharmaceuticals, energy products and semiconductor chips.
